I have an Asrock a780gxh 128m AM2+ MB that is having a strange issue. I had it hooked to a 375W power supply that had a 20 pin power connector and a 4 pin CPU power connector and ran it that way for the past few years. I bought a new 600W PSU with a 24 pin power connector and a 8 pin CPU power connector to support a better GPU. When I hook the new power supply up the mother board starts then powers off. I pulled the 600W (24 & 8) PSU from my main PC and it had the same problem. I hooked the 375W PSU back up and the board booted just fine. I tried different RAM and GPU to no avail.

I assume their is a short or something in the power connectors that doesn't show itself until I use the newer 24+8 connectors. Anyone ever come across this?

Maybe I am saying something stupid... and anyone with good knowledge will correct me there, but the 8pin is 2 set of 4pins together that you can take apart, and you might just need to separate them and plug only what you used to plug in: one of the 4pin power connector
