Don't declare a major. Don't just take "core classes" freshman year. Take classes to experiment. Take an anthropology class, geogrpahy class, etc.
but there are different core classes for different majors. for example, most engineering majors has to take calculus, chemistry and physics as part of their core classes in their first year while a business major needs to take intro to microeconomics, macroeconomics, and accouting as part of their core classes in their first year as part of their pre-equsites to apply to the acutal major later on.
so my advice to you, is to have a general direction of where u wanna go, such as engineering, business or medical school, etc. most core classes required from majors in the same department are the same.
