Well the TV you replace it with will only last 5 years. They don't make stuff as well as they used to. My Grandma still as TV's from the 60's that work fine. She also has a VCR from the early 80's that works fine (it may weigh a ton though)

I have a Mitsubishi 20" from 1987 that's still running like new, and a Sony 27" Trinitron that's 8 years old also running great.
Hope our 36" WEGA has a long life :p

I have a Sony 32" XBR from 1990 (give or take a year) that still runs fine.

Granted, compared to my HDTV sets it looks like ass, but it still works like the day I bought it :)

I got my nice 30' TV above my computer. Had this TV for 3 years, works pefect. Paid 200 bucks for it, not a bad deal eh?

Yah I know 3 years isn't anything, but most of the stuf Ive had has last a long time, I think its just a matter of taking care of what you buy.

My 20 inch Sony Trinitron is still going after 10 HARD years. It has been dropped by movers . . . but the most AMAZING thing is that it has survived being submerged in water during a FLOOD.

It was on Oahu's North Shore that we had severe rains and my lower apartment had 3 feet of water in it - only the top of the tv was not covered. A couple of months later - after the insurance settlement - I was going to throw it out but had the bright idea of plugging it in to see if it would explode. Instead, the volume came on and a few minutes later a PERFECT PICTURE.

Fast forward a few years later to shipping it to the Mainland . . . (I wasn't giving up that TV) . . . UPS dropped it and there was a huge crack in the base through the off/on controls. Nothing worked. After the insurance settlement (again), I discovered the REMOTE still worked!!!!

I am still really happy with it (very happy). :D

I had an Advent Videobeam front projection TV from 1978 that still works fine. :) It just takes up too much space.

On the plus side, here is your chance of getting a new bigger one. At least 27" :)

No idea . . . why did you want a 24" as a bedroom tv? A 27" isn't really that much bigger. ;)

:)

So true. If you read their spec. some 24" are bigger than 27". Most are pretty much the same. :)
