Bad news for US distributed users

In this article the US provider juno is planning to let them use your idle time in return for inet access. Would you disagree with this then yoo should pay for your inet access. What means that this app would rob idle time from your cows and stuff

On the bright side, this shows that distributed computing is becoming more common. It is also giving people a benefit: distributed computing is paying for their Juno service. In a way, it's a step forward for distributed computing.

However, I agree that it is not something I would want for myself. I want to support Team AnandTech with my CPU cycles, not Juno. 🙂

If it does, I'd blame the computer maker. No PC should overheat when running at ful load.😱

If a system can overheat under anything but extreme circumstances (really high ambient temperature) then is it really 'working perfectly'?

If your system has the potential to overheat when running any distributed client, then it also has the potential to overheat when running ANY game or other intensive program and is overclocked past a reasonable point for that particular CPU and cooling system. If your computer is overclocked enough that a DC client reveals problems that have not been experienced before, then you are not using the benefits of that overclocking in your regular use, and really don't have any reason to be doing the overclocking other than just to say that you did it...

Sorry, just playing devil's advocate here. (Gotta release those work-related frustrations somehow..) 😉
