This is the sea. There is nothing that can be done (except for better building of ships)

Is it just me or does it seem like storms are "going after" cruise ships lately? Every time I turn around another cruise ship's been hit by a wave, or blundered into a strong storm.

No different than the tornado magnets aka trailer parks.

Actually if it were that bad I'd change positions.

Yes this ship (Enchantment of The Seas) is actually getting "stretched", a major upgrade!

Speaking of upgrades, well yeah that is coming soon. :)

The damage while looking bad is only considered minor. Of course if that cabin had been occupied, good luck in telling those chaps!

Cruising is still the safest travel around. The likelihood of any given person experiencing such an incident is very low, much lower than say you getting involved in a car crash that results in serious injury, etc.

Things "appear" to happen with more frequency for any given number of reasons. News spreads faster with the advent of better communications, and above all there are more ships and more people cruising. With digital photography and videography people take far more stills and footage than ever before. This is particularly true with still pictures. Twenty years ago everyone had to pay for film processing and film rolls so the y were far more reluctant to snap pictures than they are today. People today take pictures of everything and I do mean everything.

There seems to be a trend in weather activity that shows an increase of storms at sea both frequency and intensity however this is no surprise as it's expected after decades of relatively calm periods.
