HI
I am having a problem setting up my pc to run with a Lynksys 4 port router. Model number BEFSR41 ver 3.
I use dsl and the modem for the dsl right into the NIC and I am ok when connecting to the dsl service and internet.
About 15 months ago I bought that router and had it working on my pc as I had other computers hooked up to it and running. When I didn't have a need for the router anymore, I removed it and went back to the dsl and dsl modem.
This morning I tried to use the router again. The failure I am getting is when I try to use the Lynksys setup software to configure the router, it fails. I get the power light and internet light and port light on the router.
BUT!!! on the NIC I don't get the green connect light. When I went back to the just the dsl and modem, I still don't get the green led on the NIC.
The NIC is a Netgear FA311.
Could the NIC be bad or do I have other problems? The first time I set it up months ago things went very smooth and no problems.
Thanks

Try turning of the FIREWALL|STATEFUL INSPECTION.

I updated my firmware on a BEFXS41 this weekend. It doesn't pass any traffic with SPI turned on (NAT only).

I haven't had time to play with it since, I'm not sure what the issue is.

FWIW

Hi
I bought a new NIC and installed it. I bought a Netgear fa311.
Since it is a exact replacement, I just replaced the card and didn't update the driver.
The led's light on the new card.
After installing the new card, I still can't set up the router. The setup software looks like it doesn't see the router.
I replaced the cables with new ones.
It still fails.

Gonna head out to Best Buy for a new router.

I don't have any firewall software installed, and still using Win XP sp1. (firewalls disabled in the os)
