I bought a Epox 4G4A+ and assembled it yesterday.everything works fine except for 3d games.
when i try to run americas army or GTA3 it starts normally but in a few seconds it locks up and i lose video.
sometimes you can hear the last sound continually repeated.ok so i removed the radeon 8500 after trying
several driver sets and still not working.used the intel onboard graphics and still have the same problem.
is it a bad board or just a driver/software problem?i tried disconnecting all fans and extra drives thinking it was
a power problem but that doesn't work either.the crash is bad,i'm running XP professional and only way to get
back to desktop is to reboot by turning off switch on PS.updated bios to latest, still have problem.
specs:
Windows XP professional
Intel P4 2.53ghz
Epox 4G4A+
1gb samsung pc2700
120gb WD 8mb cache hd
Radeon 8500/onboard intel graphics
350 watt PS

2d is great,no problems at all.runs seti for hours no problems.just 3d is the problem.

gazza- i tried both the chipset info from motherboard cd and latest version from intel.neither fixed it.

Abzstrak- where do i find the download for DirectX for XP?
