Bad Motherboard

If a users' MB dies, can the hd be taken out and slapped into a diff pc with a diff configuration? I know that in the old days this would be possible, but in this day and age with xp is it possible?

thanks.

It's totally possible, but will almost always cause problems. Frequently the OS will boot, and even if it does, it will only do so in safe mode.

You're much better off jacking their hard drive into your box, copying all the important data, and then formatting and reinstalling their drive. This is the path with the least number of question marks and will give their system a nice boost in performance to boot! Get rid of those spyware and viruses while you're at it 🙂
