Bad monitor??? (samsung 700nf)

Hello!!
I just bought a brand new Samsung Syncmaster 700nf for my new computer and I cant get the damn thing to show anything on the screen...
When my computer is booting, the LED flashes green/amber like it is supposed to, and then when the computer posts, the LED goes to green!! well this is good and all, but nothign comes up on the damn screen!! the manual says the monitor has a self test, which is basically turning off the computer and monitor, then disconnecitng the monitor, and then powering up the monitor... a red signal box that says "No SIGNAL" is suppsoed to appear...
So I did this test... the monitor LED just stays amber and no signal box even pops up... is this a bum monitor or has anyone had any similar problems???
 
Could be a bad vid card....you said it's for your "new computer".....

Do you have any spare equipment to test with? Extra Monitor, vid card, etc?

Also, is there ONLY ONE video out on the back of the computer? Should be a female connector that is blue with 3 rows of pins.

i have a hercules geforce2 MX...

i tried another monitor and sure enuff it brings up the video fine...

and theres only 1 connector for that type (cant remeber if its male or female, but it is blue and has 3 rows), there is conenctors for other types of RGB hookups or something... but no others that would lead me to confusion as to which one to plug into...
