Bad memory?

I put in the memory, computer posts with 2 short and 3 long beeps and gets a "RAM R/W Test" error.

Memtest crashes on third test.

Computer won't boot with just this stick, but works fine with the old stick. I've tried both slots.

Before I take it back to Fry's, want to make sure.

Sounds like the new RAM is either bad or wrong type (different memory timings, chip density too high, etc.) If available, check your mobo manual for the exact rating of memory that your mobo will handle and buy that.

Both are PC2100 512mb and my mobo is supposed to handle up to 2 gigs. I'm going to return it and get a matching stick of what I have, maybe that'll make it work. I have Kingston, this bad RAM is Corsair.
