Hello,
Just trying to get my new computer up and running... had a few problems where I was shorting the mobo before but I solved that problem... Now this is my problem:

I have a 128mb stick of pc133 mushkin ram that, when I place it in slot-1 or any slot for that matter, the memory count only counts to 65mb AND the post beep gives me the long looping beeps which the K7V manual says is "no DRAM installed/detected". Now I do have two sticks of pc100 ram in my other computer that I tried (one is 64mb the other is 128mb) on the K7V... the 64mb does count to 64mb but gives the same looping beeps, AND the 128mb DOES actually count to 128mb, BUT STILL gives me the long looping beeps!! So I am wondering if maybe I have bad mushkin memory AND a bad K7v or whatever... any help???

The full component list for this computer is:
Asus K7V slot-A with 800mHZ CPU
alpha p7125
128mb Mushkin pc133 rev 1.5
hercules geforce2 MX
Soundblaster live! mp3
Linksys NIC

Shorting the MB? You could have fried any number of controllers or even the BIOS. Not to mention the ram modules themselves.

But, based on what you said.....sounds like a bad mushkin module AND a bad MB(memory controller maybe....)

Also, did you count the number of beeps....long-short....etc. Sure the beeps are not for something you may have hooked up incorrectly? Remove all hardware possible to eliminate potential problems. I'm not familiar with that MB, so I don't know the BIOS setup or error codes.

Good Luck, hope this helped. :)

the bios beeps are just a repeating loop which the manual means no DRAM detected...

i dont know if "short" is the right word for what i did to the mobo on the earlier problem... someone suggested i take the mobo out of the case and then hook stuff up cuz i might have had too many screws holding it in...this was cuz i wasnt even getting posts before this new problem... anyways, it posted when i removed the mobo so i re-scrwed it in and started hooking things up and i was sitll posting only now it gives me the no DRAM...

anyways, i have been in contact with mushkin and they are sending a replacement stick, so this will help narrow down my problems.... anyways thanks!! any more suggestions??
