I'm slowly going crazy and before I commit myself, I thought I'd ask for your thoughts.
After having issues w/ the nf4 chipset on my mobo, I sent it Asus as a RMA. They send me a new board but while installing the cpu, I bend a pin. No big deal, I bend it back straight. When I try to boot the pc, I discover that only dimm slots B1 and B2 work. I send the board back to Asus and get another board today. In the meantime, I buy myself another set of ram, thinking my Crucial Ballistix maybe bad b/c only one would post on it's own.
When I boot-up my new board, only dimm slot B1 works! All four sticks of ram will boot-up in that slot but no other combination works. I can't believe I could get two bad boards in row from Asus. Thus I'm wondering, can it be possible that the memory controller on my cpu be bad?
My thoughts are to buy another motherboard and/or cpu to isolate the issue but what a waste of money. Any thoughts?
Thx for reading
edit - forgot to add, w/ the one stick of ram in dimm slot 3, the system runs fine.
