You don't have too. During the installation of Suse 10.1 it tries to configure the online update and even tries to update there. If you would've done that then there would be no problem.

Or you could've afterwards gone to Yast's Online Update Configuration and then Online Update.

None of the half dozen update icons in Yast worked for me. Half of them kept asking for a cdrom, and the other half gave me some strange library error. That's unacceptable.

No one on the QA team INSTALLED THE PRODUCT? 😕

I installed suse enterprise desktop last night. While I found it easy to use. I was disappointed by the lack of software. I had to add the 10.1 repositorys to install simple things like bluefish and other apps I need to do my job. After screwing with it and finding rpms they didn't have even in the 10.1 repositorys I put ubuntu back on.

I only wish I could find instructions on installing their novell client on ubuntu.

When it asks for the cds that means you're installing something in yast... Not sure what you're talking about when referring to the library error. I did the update and it fixed the problem. Not sure why you couldn't do the same..

They probably couldn't install the product. They couldn't push back the release date because everyone kept complaining from their previous pushed back release date.

I'll have to install it again to see what the errors were.

Installation takes a couple of hours, they could have pushed it back a coupel of hours. 😉

What I wish they would do is release a maintenance release like Ubuntu. Oh well..

The update issue is probably why they're pushing 10.2 so fast.

I forgot to burn the Suse cds, so it'll be next week before I get a chance to try it again, unless I reinstall it in vmware at work.
