Bad LCD or Bad inverter

I have a Toshiba Sattelite a105, and the LCD boots up black with a couple vertical white line about 2 pixels in width. I tried hooking up another laptop's inverter to it and it went completely white. Then I took the other LCD and hooked it up to the Toshiba inverter and it also went completely white. Help me out here!!!!! Bad inverter or bad LCD.

Isn't the Inverter for supplying power to the backlight? The lines you mentioned are either being produced by the video card or the LCD itself is damaged in some way.

bad inverters cause other issues...not lines. i'm not sure inverters are universal😛 did you check what kind of output on each pin it had before you just plugged it in?

OrooOroo is right, nothing to bump unless you wanted a 2nd opinion.

If the inverter is bad, and that is all that's bad, you would still have the images on-screen and could vaguely make them out by shining a strong light at it, but it wouldn't add new unexpected lines.

Are you certain you are calling the right part the inverter? That is a board connected to the CCFL tubes, are those tubes lit or not? From your description of both panels going white, it almost seems as if you swapped controller boards instead of inverter boards.
