ok so i'm an ebay noob...but i wanna pick up those recent ipod posters that were just about everywhere...

i'm a college student and only have a debit mastercard thru my bank. i'm always hearing about scams and such thru paypal and was wondering whether using a debit card (which is associated w/ your bank account) would be a bad idea?

btw...i noticed that you can add a credit card/bank account in paypal; but can you remove a card/bank account? (sorta like how some etailers let you choose whether you wanna store your CC# info on their server or input each time; i'd rather just input each time for security)

thanx

just another question forgot to add: its free to send via paypal...they just charge you to receive rite?

Check with your bank and see if your debit/check card has the same protections as a credit card. Some banks offer this, some don't. If it is, then it's really no worse than using a credit card.

Edit: didn't see the second part of your post. I'm pretty sure you have to always have at least one form of account active at all times, either bank acct. or CC.

I would never have a debit card hooked up to paypal. If something gets messed up, you're out that money until your bank fixes it. If it's a credit card, it's money you never had anyway so it isn't as much of a burden until things get made right.

I would suggest reading Paypal's Buyer Protection policy.

Also I have dispatched the damon (AKA: paypalbot) to this thread, he should be able to answer all your questions :)

I've had my bank card associated with paypal now for over 4 years and have never had a problem. Key word: never!! I don't want to imagine if I ever did have one. But, I don't have any cc to associate it with.

Hi vexingv,

I would recommend doing what bunker suggested. I wouldn't know all of the rules re:Debit card protections for the various financial institutions throughout the country.
