Bad idea to use a Zalman CNPS7000B Al-Cu with a Moblie Athlon 64?

My friend has one of these coolers on a Celeron. He was thinking about getting a mobile Athlon 64. I believe he wants to keeep his cooler. Is there a great chance that this cooler will damage the exposed die/not make proper contact due to the lack of a IHS?

Mobile procs don't have IHS cos they don't need them. Low TDP.
