Bad idea to grossly underpower speakers for a few days?

Want to install my new car speakers myself this week, however, i am having a professional install the amp..

I figure it will take me a bit of time, since its my first time, so as i progress, would it be bad to use the new speakers running off the stock HU for a day or two before the amp is installed?

New speakers are rated at 125/90watts recommended (front and back respectively)

HU (i assume) puts out 10-25 watts.

Bad idea?

Trying to figure out how best to accomplish this...

You can safely power any speaker with 0.001W. Then again I'm pretty sure that's not really what you're asking...

No problem at all.

Your ears are the best tool to preventing any damage to stereo components.

There is a point that the music sounds "compressed"...meaning the difference between high volume instruments and low volume instruments is shrinking. That is TOO LOUD.

Plus not to mention if it sounds in any way shape or form distorted...turn it down.

It's not bad, just don't turn it all the way up.

And un til you get the sub installed, try to keep your fingers out of the bass knob. If you crank that too much, you might not like what happens if you do that too long.

No problem. Underpowering will not hurt them at all. Impedience mismatch may hurt them and overpowering them certainly will.

Distortion can also kill speakers. Don't blast the new speakers, thinking that just because they are underpowered, that you can't hurt them. Keep the volume in check until you get your amp installed.
