Bad idea to buy discontinued tires?

Bridgestone S-03s are on closeout and are discounted but what do you do if something happens to one tire or one end wears out faster than the other? Is it taboo to have different model tires on the front or rear?

I can't rotate tires since it came staggered from factory.

Depending on the store its a great idea. When I lost a tire the store I got mine from replaced the whole set.

It's optimal to have matching tires on the same axle. Truth be told, I have had occasions where the same axle had different tires and it wasn't noticeable.

Was the Bridgestone tire a popular model that's being discontinued, or is it being canned due to problems? I used to have a set of Dunlops that were simply awful. Not surprisingly, Dunlop discontinued it and started selling an improved version.

I wouldn't worry about it. By the time one set is worn down enough to need replacing, you'll want to replace all four anyway. Unless, of course, there's something wrong with your car that makes one end wear MUCH faster than the other...but even so, rotating them every so often will take care of that.

And when's the last time you had a serious enough problem with one tire to need to replace that one, but nothing else? It happens, of course, but it's not THAT common.

discontinued is fine. as long as the tire tread depth is similar or adequate theres no real big problem. only really old weathered tires are bad, u cant just leave a car for like a decade and still use its tires..

I think the tyres on my car are 2 pairs, front and rear, not a matching set of 4.
You can always replace 2 at a time if necessary

It's heavily discounted because it's being or already is discontinued.
