I just got a Samsung F4 320 shipped from newegg intended for use as a boot drive. Then I found a good deal on a small SSD, so I decided to use the F4 as a programs/storage drive.
However, I'm concerned that something's wrong with the drive. I was copying some files on it (mp3s, pictures, and documents) to another drive (not an external), but I was getting really bad performance... ~30mb/sec and it seemed stall much longer than it should have on certain smallish files while copying ... Like 10-30 seconds for an mp3 or jpg sometimes. Other files copied quickly. In my experience this behaviour indicates a dying drive...
My suspicions aroused that this was a bad disk, I ran an error scan with HD Tune, but it reported no problems. The drive benchmark graph also appeared normal.
Do I have a bad drive or is something else likely causing the copy slowdowns?
The F4 has been running for less than a week and it seemed to be packed well when I got it.
