Bad HDD clone? Messed up boot sector?

I seem to recall way back in the day there was software that could repair a HDD that was no longer being detected. I just don't remember what it was or how it worked. Have a 500GB drive that was working fine, no issues or errors, tried cloning an old 80GB IDE to it and then it disappeared (from BIOS too).

Would certainly like to get it working again.
