I am a HS teacher and one of my 12 classroom computers went out today. A student was just working away when the screen suddenly went blank and would not restart even though it had power. After school I got it to start to boot up wtith the beginning XP start up screen, then it would go dark for about 30 second then a blue screen would come on with some text about "phyiscally dump all programs'.... It won't stay on long enough to read. Then it restarts and goes through the cycle again.
Last week it did have the messsage 'Boot error" before the BIOS came up but then I would just reset and it would boot up. It only happened a couple of times and then the past week or so was fine until today. This same computer was having problems with not keeping the settings like the desktop icons would go away after a new person signed on and the task bar setting would not stay set and it kept loosing the network printer.
I this a sign of a bad HD?
