Bought a hard drive from a member on here, been having issue with the machine randomly rebooting while trying to copy over data from another drive. Would Windows chkdsk be sufficent? I got a dump file that Ill post when its done.
The chkdsk is only going to do a surface scan and check for bad sectors. The manufactureres diagnostic tools are much more thorough, however each has their own so knowing the manufacturer would help us get you to the right one. Seagate has seatools, maxtor had maxblast etc etc
