bad hard drive??

I kept getting errors about xplore and dmhkey and then it locked up.. i rebooted and it said there was a vxd file missing that windows needed to run.. and i should re- install.. during this process scan disk ram and found bad sectors and repaired them but windows wont run.. just re-install or take hdd back?? Its a maxtor 40g/7200rpm from best buy...??????

reinstall, if further errors occur, piss on the hard drive and take it back ;) hehehe j/k just take it back if further errors occur.

I had a similar experience, (meaning the similarity of our experiences could easily be a coincidence), and I did everything including a hd format\OS installation. The hard drive crashed 24 hours after I started getting the symptoms you mentioned. My hard drive was three years old.

:D Thanks for the advice.. just got back from bestbuy... got my $$$ back and am gonna buy an IBM like I soulda in the first place...;)
