of all the boards ive updated bios on today was the first time i ever had a flash fail

after the flash the system wouldnt post (i tried everything including clearing cmos, etc, etc) so i tried the old hotswapping bios chips and was able to reprogram it on a different motherboard. it worked great!!! i was so relieved when the system posted :)

the board that had the bad flash was a biostar m7vit pro and i used an MSI 6390 to reprogram the bios chip

i only just got finished with it, and im feeling so giddy i had to come post about it. hehehe :D

Good to hear :D Hot flashing can be a real life saver alright. with how flakey bioses can be now the investment in a bios savior is a good one as well and would have saved many users the RMA process had they had one.

Was there anything different about this flash that you can identify?

nope, nothing different

it was the correct update utility and the correct bios file... durring the flash process everything went like usual. at the end it tells you that the update was successful and to reboot system, but it just wouldnt post after that

what is hotswapping/hotflashing. Is it taking out your bios chip anf itting into another board which is running and then flash it ? Is my above guess right?
