Bad Flash (DVD-RW) *FIXED*

I used Binflash for Win32 and it hung while flashing my Mitsumi DW-7802TE (NEC 1300A rebadge). I tried to recover my system just hung. The BIOS sees the drive when POSTing but I can't seem to reflash it as the utilities no longer see the drive.

Any advice?

I've had good experiences with flashing optical burners for better media support.

Ok, I fixed my problem. 🙂

Here's what I did to screw up then fix it:
- Flashed Mitsumi drive with NEC firmware and a Windows-based flashing tool
- Flashing tool hung during flash, all attempts to recover the system without restarting failed
- Retried using NECFlash and the Dangerous Brother's flasher tool, didn't see the drive
- Last ditched attempt, downloaded firmware from NEC and used their loader

Normally official NEC firmware won't load for obvious reasons, but I think because my Mitsumi's firmware now had NEC string in it, it thought it really was an NEC.

yeah dont flash in the first place.....u want a better product, buy it

Flashing isnt just for "upgrading" the drive.

Lite-on makes firmware updates all the time to fix various small issues and add media compatibility. Dont assume just because someone is flashing their drive that they are trying to flash it to a dif model
