I am trying to write a persuasive essay on how a cruise would not be ideal for a grad trip, and since I haven't been on a cruise in nearly 7-8 years, I was wondering if anyone could help me by giving me some ideas to work with.
 
pirates, diseases, fires, they sink, people fall overboard, terrorists hijacking

Read David Foster Wallace's essay "A Supposedly Fun Thing That I Will Never Do Again," published in his book of the same name. Its a great (and funny) critique of the whole cruise mentality.

The other essays in the book are also pretty entertaining.
