(This is a cut/Paste from a thread I responded to where another person was having difficulties... thought it might be more appropriate here:

---------------------------

another vote for Nero 6.6 suite.

I bought Easy Media Creator 7 because I had enjoyed Easy CD Creator 5 platinum and just assumed it was better than Nero (older Nero was kind of weak) which was bundled with my new burner.

OMG what a mistake that was!

I uninstalled the old ECDC 5 and installed my brandy new EMC7. I already knew about the 120MB update on the Roxio site and dl'd that and installed it too.

The software never got off the ground for me. The Media Center Home started, ignored any input from keyboard or mouse and then shut itself down with no hint of a reason why.

So I went to the Roxio site and began to read the support forum and FAQ. Problem after problem listed there I read and said to myself.... yeah, mine is doing that too.

I tried every fix they offered. Some were pretty extreme such as "uninstall Office 97 or higher and re-install it to fix some damaged file. or my personal favorite, go to the registry and give every key full permission to any level user... bye bye security

Finally, I just uninstalled the entire mess and decided to try the Nero 6.6. IT WORKED SEAMLESSLY on the first try and contains all the features I need (couldn't seem to find much difference between it's features and those EMC7 promised... except NERO WORKED!

Did I mention that NERO 6.6 WORKED

So I guess I have now officially joined the ranks of those who WILL NEVER TRUST ROXIO AGAIN

An expensive lesson

I installed Roxio 7 on a machine and laughed when it used over a gig to install.

What the hell were they thinking.

Nero 6.6 probably has all the same features and doesn't use 1 gig, there are only a few differences between the two.
