Bad experience with auto transport / shipping company

DO NOT USE AUTO-MOVE.COM (AKA CROSS COUNTRY AUTO TRANSPORT) TO MOVE YOUR CAR.

So I won ab auction for a car last monday. I called around 5-10 auto shipping places and got quotes and transit times. Gilles Genereux at auto-move.com told me that they could pick up the car the between Wed and Fri since they already had a driver in the area and he was waiting for his last car. He also told me the car would be delivered 4-6 days after pick up, which is pretty impressive considering the 3000 miles that the car needs to be transported. I decided to go with this company due to the quick pick up and transit as well as the reasonable price ($1000). I was told I would be called 24-48 hours before the car is picked up and that I would be able to track the car on the company website once it was shipped.

So Wed comes around and I havent heard from them yet. I assume they are going to pick up Fri and therefore call me on Thurs. Next day I get no calls so I call them up. They tell me the car will be picked up Friday. Next day, no pick up. I call again and they tell me theyll take it Saturday. Next day, no pick up. They finally pick up the car Monday.

I try to track the shipment on Tuesday on the company website (you leave your email address and they email you back). By Thursday I have received no response. I try again. I'ts Friday and I have received no response.

I called them repeatedly today till I got through to a customer service rep (most of the time I would get a voice mail box). I just called them up and waited on hold for about 30 minutes. I was told to expect delivery between Wed-Fri NEXT WEEK which is 9-11 days after it was picked up (LATE).

I will update again when the car gets here.

Cliff's Notes:
-Was told car would be picked up in 2-4 days, it was picked up after 7 days
-Was told car would be delivered 4-6 days after pickup, now being told 9-11 days
-Do not use this company, they are a bunch of liars

Well looks like I should have done my research, "cross country auto transport" on Google brings up negative reviews.

WOW

That first review is the EXACT same situation I'm in. The rep I talked to in first day will not return my calls, emails, voicemails, etc. They have my $200 deposit and they don't care anymore.

This is just the nature of the automobile hauling industry, at least it's always been my experience. The honest ones will tell you the pickup and delivery date can float between 2 weeks and 1 month. Keep in mind these guys are picking up and dropping off multiple cars from multiple locations while driving general routes. If one car get's held up or they need to reroute to pick up a new vehicle it effects the entire schdule.

Damn....

Yeah, if you buy a car on ebay, go get it yourself.

My uncle works for a company that pays employees to drive a car from seller to buyer, and he freakin drives them like a nutcase.

Yep. I've heard of these guys more than once over at a few car forums. Do not use is the verdict. Over promise, under deliver. It's the same in every sales/service industry. If you call 10 places and they all give you similar quotes, and along comes an 11th company that quotes you something miraculously better, it's not because that 11th company is composed of miracle workers, but because they are dishonest liars. Works that way everytime. I work in the mortgage industry, and for us, we call those 11th companies "predatory lenders."
