Bad driver, now no sound.

I recently decided to try and do some gameplay videos on my old computer. However, my current drivers did not support stereo mix. When I attempted to get the driver that does support this, all sound went away.

After this, I tried another driver that said it supported stereo mix. Didn't work, as it says there isn't a driver file in the specified path. I've tried many drivers now, from Dell and other sources. I've tried searching the web for fixes, and still nothing. Even the Dell driver for my system tells me its not the correct one for my system.

I've gotten close with a good one from Dell, but when I try and install using the hardware wizard thing, it tells me:

ExitError:Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

I have a Dimension E510 with a SigmaTel integrated audio. I can't currently check what model as it will not install. Sound is actually coming from the little motherboard speaker now. I'm usually pretty good with computers so this is really angering me.

If anyone has suggestions or links, that'd be amazing. I can also provide other specs if you request them (I've got some diagnostic and benchmarking software).

Apparently someone else in the house removed the sticker. I can't read what it says. However, I went to choose from all devices and hallelujah, it works. I've checked, double checked, and triple checked this page, but it now works. There still isn't stereo mix, what you hear, etc. Do you know how I would get this?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ch33zw1z. I'd rather have sound and no stereo mix than no sound at all.

If you use ch33zw1z's link, one of the options there will allow the website to automatically detect your service tag from your system.

I attempted that, but I would have to have IE 5.5 or higher. I hate Internet Explorer, it slows down my computer, so I skipped that one. Google chrome, all the way.

Just because you have a later version doesn't mean you have to use it. Having a later version on your hard drive doesn't slow your system when it's not in use.
