Today I found that a friend of mine and his wife were involved in a fatal aircraft crash, along with two of their friends.
This is part of an email I received today:
<< This morning we received the message that two of our own have been involved in a fatal airplane accident. Yesterday evening Captain Russ Blaser, his wife Carol and two of their friends enjoyed dinner at Cedar Key. Though investigations are still in progress, it has been reported that after takeoff from Cedar Key Airport in their Cessna TR-182, the airplane went down in the Gulf less than 1/2 mile from shore. All four were lost.
>>
I have flown with him before, and he's an excellent pilot. He was a decorated infantry officer in Vietnam, and was the Safety Officer for Civil Air Patrol's Group 2 in FL Wing.
The Coast Guard found three bodies, but not his. They say there's a chance he may have somehow made it to one of the many small islands in that area, and may still be alive. If you would, please pray that somehow he did make it...please. However remote the possibility is, it's still there...
