bad copy of winXP pro bought from newegg...

I recently bought an OEM of winXP pro w/SP2 from newegg and when I went to install on my new system I kept getting CRC errors. After trying a couple of times I gave up and used someone elses XP pro disk which installed but since it was from a dell computer I have some dell crap floating around and my IE windows like to freeze up (I use firefox anyway but this is weird all the same). My main question is though - how do I get newegg to send me another disk? I don't want another key - just a copy of the software that I bought. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks.

Call them and explain the situation and I am sure they will replace the defective CD.

well I emailed them yesterday b/c it wouldn't let me start an RMA on software so I'm waiting on that. I guess if I don't get a reply soon I'll just call. 🙁

You will have to call, I am never get an email response from Newegg. The problem is, they don't open untill I am gone off to work.

Are you certain its the CD? Have you run Memtest on your RAM and double-checked your IDE cables and connections?

I'm almost 100% sure it's the disk. sequence of events:

build PC
turn on - check bios settings
try to install winXP (newegg disk)
fail
try again
fail
clean off hd - try to install win2k
succeed
try to install winXP (newegg disk) starting in win2k
fail
clean off hd again - try to install winxp (newegg disk)
fail
clean off hd again - try to install winxp (friend's dell disk)
succeed

other than the weirdness I had with IE everything seems to be running fine. How do I test the ram? The IDE cable is obviously fine given that i installed 2 other OSes and installed all my drivers without issue.
