BC2 and BF3 are great games. Why anyone complains is beyond me. This is why we have something called 'choice'. If you don't like a game, don't play it!

BC2 was pretty awesome, the engine and how smooth it would run on moderate systems was hard to beat and i do love that engine version much more then the BF3 version and i did find myself spending much more time playing BC2 then BF3 as far as how long i played one session.

7850 and a i5 2500 and i would not dip below 60fps ever with high settings and 4x msaa at 1920x1200 and it looks fantastic.

I liked bc2's campaign a lot more than bf3. It seems the environments were more destructible in bc2.

If you don't like an opinion, don't read it!

I really need to start playing BC2 again. The maps and balance in general are much better than BF3, IMO, and the destructability... :awe::awe::awe:

I understand what you're getting at, but I don't think it's wrong to hold developers' feet to the fire and criticize their work. They are, after all, trying to sell me a product. If it were some open source game where I could go in and make changes (well, at least try to, I'm no coding guru), that would be different.

I want a new Battlefield game. I'd pay them cash money for one... it just has to be fun. They've achieved that before and that's why it's disappointing when they offer up something like Battlefield 3.

On a completely unrelated note, where'd you get portrait stands for your 30" monitors? I've got two and I'm about to get a third and your arrangement intrigues me.

The stand is custom - most stands out there cannot handle 3 30" monitors (they are quite heavy). If you want info on this particular stand, PM me and I'll let you know where I got it.

The only thing I really miss about BC2 is that the C4 looked way cooler and it had a tracer dart lol.

It was a lot of fun, but aside from some good maps I don't think there's anything particularly remarkable about it anymore. Atacama Desert was pretty awesome though.

Agreed, I just want my tracer dart. I can live without a lot of stuff, but tracer darting people is super fun.

And the AT4. My god I love the AT4. Taking it out in BF3 was a goddamn travesty. It used to be the BASE weapon in BF2, and now its completely gone.

Ever since bf 42/2142, moh, and cod:mw, I've pretty much only done the single campaigns. A shame they seem inclined to make them rather short and sucky but I get to wait a while before picking them up so at least they get cheap.

I hope you guys are joking. Each of those is already a high-quality 30" IPS panel. And if he rotated it to L-L-L instead of P-P-P he could gain an advantage by seeing more of the world than most other people could see--greater field of view.
I've personally used a few engineering samples in terms of larger FOV screens and wider screens. I dislike them all, and I'd rather just crank up FOV via in-game tweaking. When it comes down to screens it's typically personal preference that wins out. I've used monitors that just as wide without the bars (even slightly curved) and I still find them incredibly niche. FOV can be adjusted in-game most of the time and I'm fine with that.

People gaming on a single monitor denigrating those playing on triple-monitor should spray paint their cars' side windows black since they enjoy their tunnel vision so much. ;)
How is that analogy even comparable? This is like having 6 extra windows to see out the side compared to the normal amount of windows on each side. I'm glad you enjoy having extra monitors but I (like others) wouldn't want a ton of IPS monitors set up in a incredibly ugly fashion. Enjoy watching movies with that setup, though.

On topic, I say we do a planned night of BC2 Vietnam. Everyone loves BC2 Vietnam!

I like Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam the best. Sure I like BF3 but it doesn't have the same vibe the BBC Vietnam has. Maybe just one day they will make a sequel to Battlefield Vietnam. I can only dream....

Was bored over the weekend and decided to re-download BC2 and played some conquest on Heavy Metal. Its just as I remember it, one team traps the other and it simply becomes a turkey shoot. Those narrow maps with the flags in all in a row are ridiculous.

The game still looks decent and I had some fun but compared to BF3 the movement is just so darn awkward. The lack of strafe running and the ability to go prone made me feel like a duck stuck in the mud.

Going to give Vietnam a try later on.

The only thing I didnt like about BC2 was when recon would use artillery to blow up the mcoms. The weapons took a little too long to unlock, but BF3's unlock system is annoying for different reasons. The Vietnam expansion was excellent. Unfortunately the last time I tried to play there werent a lot of servers.

I had terrible stutter issues in that game, and after countless hours of trying to find a solution it seems that it's a lottery whether the engine 'likes' your hardware combo or not. Lots of people have told me that it runs buttery smooth for them, but there are also tons of unresolved BC2 stutter threads on the internet, and while I was online I spoke to several people who had the same issue. The difference was that they just put up with it, while I gave up and uninstalled the game.

.

Yeah the last time i played it i came across issues with my old Evga GTX670 where i would prefer to enable vsync cause i hated the noise the card put off attemping to keep it under 70 cel and well vsync for me was a disaster with dips down to 25 fps at times in that game and with max settings,i did not need 100fps+ at all times, while BF3 being another frostbite engine game basically had the opposite where it would stutter if i did not enable vsync LOL and even then i had stutter at times, annoying enough to get rid of the card itself.

Went back to using my 7850 and well zero stutter,so your point about a hardware lottery is 100% spot on.

I concur. Wasn't a big fan of BF3. BC2 just was so much more fun. Seems like it plays smoother. Nice vid! I subscribed to your channel. Look forward to seeing more!
