i just purchased a LED 21.5 asus monitor, im running it at 1950x1050 60hz, it hurts my eyes though, i turned down the brightness and contrast but it still bothers my eyes, is there any other adjustments i can try? or would a higher refresh rate be better?

Yea I noticed default settings have high brightness... perhaps you just need to get used to the monitor? I would say try it with a different game and see if its the game or just the new monitor.

refresh rate won't matter, probably what the monitor is locked at anyway. Turn down the brightness and also don't play in a completely dark room. I always have a small lamp in the corner on providing some ambient light(if it's dark outside of course).

You shouldn't adjust brightness and contrast to play a certain game. You should calibrate your monitor for proper display of contrast and color gamut. That being said, sometimes there is an in-game gamma or "bloom" to adjust.

When I got my new LCD they max the brightness settings. I have mine at like 18 now instead of the default 50 or 100 or whatever it was. I say you need to get used to the monitor. Bad company 2 has a lot of bloom and bright maps, it is a little too bright in that game sometimes. Try turning off the bloom/HBAO or whatever.

If u aren't using a dvi cable, try messing with the contrast too.
