did a scan disk found bad clusters in the first sector of my 1 yaer old maxtor hard drive. Downloaded the power max program and it found a problem and asked me if i would like to try to fix it. If I chose fix will it erase all my data? Any advice for this situation;(
thanks

What it should do is move the data on the bad clusters to a good area of the drive if it can and then mark the bad clusters as unuseable.

Bad clusters are not a good sign. I would back up your data and replace the drive ASAP. Once this starts to happen, you will find bad clusters constantly appearing and your drive may die soon. Better to be safe than sorry.
