Bad CLusters in Hard Drive.... Help?

Hi i have a 45 gig IBM 7200 rpm hard drive that was working fine for about two weeks... however yesterday, i put it on thoruouhg scan disk and then went to sleep. When i woke upp and tried to restart the computer it wouldn't. It got stuck on the windows 98 starting screen.... so i formattd the 2 gig partition that has the os on it.... hten i tried to reinstall windows but it turns out hat my ohter drive is dameaged too.... ihave bad sctors or something i manged to install hte os again.... and it works...h owever i still have those bad/damged sectors.... how do i repair or restore it?

oh yeh.... i used scandisk and that doesnt repair anything when i use it ... it jus tells me how many sectors are damaged

Download the Drive Fitness Test 2.1 from IBM.. It might help. otherwise, it's time for RMA.

Bad sectors can only be removed by a low level format or what they call "zero'ing" the HD. Basically, it will remove all the data and at the same time re-set the HD to all zeroes like it just came out of the factory. Check IBM for the utility. :cool:
