Bad BIOS flash

I have a Abit KA7 mobo and I just flashed the BIOS and now the system won't post. Is there another way to get it to reflash even if it won't post?

I don't have another mobo to hotswap the chips.

Any suggestions?

I personally would get another from the mobo vendor, not from a 3rd party. They might even charge less.

how do I add that line in the autoexec?

I found a older pentium system that I can try to hotswap. But when I change the BIOS around in DOS and go to flash the BIOS it says part ID doesnt match. Well on this one site I found a modifier thats suppost to overide it which is /QI.

Well when I type in "AWDFLASH biosname.bin /QI" and hit enter it goes into the program but keeps saying please wait and does nothing. Anyone have any idea whats going on? I didnt see a jumper on the mobo that disables/enables BIOS update nor in the BIOS itself.

Any ideas?

If you have a working computer, edit the file on the floppy (or create it) using Notepad in Windows. Select run from the start menu and type Notepad for the name.

Different chipsets and different flash ROMs have different requirements. There are different AWDFLASH programs that detect different chipsets and different flash ROMs. So the AWDFLASH program and the chipset probably do not match.

O yeah, make sure you put in the real name where biosname.bin is.

There are universal flash programs, but they are more complicated to use. If it doesn't figure out what chipset and flash ROM you have, you may have to give it some parameter. There is a guy (rainbow) at Wimsbios that knows all about it and answers questions. He may answer to an address on his site.
