Bad Bios flash, any hope?

Tried updating the Bios on an old Shuttle SB51G and got write errors on the first 25% before it " completed." Knowing that was a bad thing I tried reflashing the old bios before rebooting and got the same bad writes. The PC still powers on, and still has floppy access as I tried a blind flash which just doesn't want to take. So, anything else to try? Is it worth it to send this Bios chip off to get flashed? Any recommendations on who to do this?

Question 2: Are there any more modern motherboards available that I might could shoehorn in as a replacement?
