Bad ATX Power Supply Frying Motherboards?

Well, I took the power supply that caused my new motherboard to smoke and installed it in my working computer. Guess what? Another fried motherboard (and hopefully nothing else fried too). I didn't think that power supplies could cause this kind of problems. Is it conceivable to have a bad power supply that can kill motherboards or am I doing something wrong?

Yes Power Supplies can and do smoke motherboards, not often thankfully, in fact I have one on my bench here that outputs a nice 110Volts through the 5V+ line! :Q
