Bad airflow in an Aopen HQ08-case...

I have installed a duron 800@900 (1,75V) (idle: 47c)... and all the fans recommended in the manual. Still the motherboard (a7v) temp. is around 30c, which I think is bad for a case with 3 x 80mm fans (2050 rpm) installed.

The air comming from the PSU is hot - but the air comming from the two outgoing 80mm fans is cool!? (how the he.. is all that hot air from the cpu surposed to go though that small duct and out the rear, anyway?¿)

Anyone with knowledge of the case, please reply with possible alternative locations for the fans or ideas...

Hello,

I too have this case i havent made any mods for it yet but..
This dude here has (Link);

Some dudes HX/HQ08 Mods

Check out the Outtake Section

His case is the HX08 Very Similar.
He has mounted his Power Supply right at the top of the case.
And 2x Exhaust Fans just above the CPU this looks like a good way to get rid of the excess heat. Although it did involve alot of modding / Destruction.

Just an idea...

i8mywindpipe: Hey thanks for that cool site.

Get a 92mm or 120mm fan and mount it as the intake on the bottom front of the case. I have a 92mm intake, two 80mm exhaust, and one 80mm mounted on the side blowing towards the cpu. Normal working temps(like while I'm typing this) are MB 23C/73F and cpu 31C/87F. Case temp works out to about two degrees above abient.

kebb,

That case has horrible air movement from the bottom of the case to the top rear exhaust.

Before you do anything, check out the case mods I did to my Antec KS188(it's the exact same case as the AOpen HX/HQ08, but with a different front bezel).

You need to make 1 or 2 holes in the motherboard tray above the I/O panel. Get a drill, 60mm holesaw and a mandrel(3/8 or 1/2" depends on the drill you are using). Measure carefully, if you put the fans too far up--you won't be able to get the screws in(the heads won't fit). Lay the motherboard tray on the I/O panel and lay the fan/fans on there to measure placement. Draw an outline and find the center--cut the hole.

It lowered my case temp by 2-3 degrees, plus decreased CPU temp by 3-4 degrees--I use 2x60mm YS Tech fans for outake. Originally I had 2x60mm 38cfm Deltas, loud, but dropped my CPU temp by 5-6 degrees.

Also check out GideonX's mods for another I/O panel mod on an Antec KS188.

Good luck!

I've got a KS-188 too. One 120mm intake(@7V so it's quiet[not quite,rrr]) and two 60mm Adda exhausts above the I/O panel.
Mine's still well above ambient, but damnit, I have two processors to contend with!

Future plans are:
Maybe another 120mm intake, that requires removing the hard drive cage, but they'll be mounted at the bottom, in front of the intake fan.
Dual Fan PS, I don't think the Antec's pulling enough of that hot air out of there. But that simply requires money, and no power tools, so is much less fun

And as far as hot air coming out of the PS, well, it has hot parts in it too.
