Bad 3D Mark scores when fsb is clocked higher then 146!! help

I need some help in determining what is the problem causing my bad 3Dmark scores after 146Mhz on my FSB. I get around 8550 when my fsb is at 146 and processor is at 1.53Ghz. but when i go above, 148Mhz and 1.55Ghz the score drops to 8250. Then i tryed fsb 150Mhz and processor at 1.5Ghz and still my score is around 8250. I have to be doing something wrong here.. please a little help!!

system:

AthlonXP 1600+ (AGOIA) TB/a (will clock it higher later) it can go!!

i got a pentium class hsf on the northbridge and the vid card and adequite cooling everywhere else.
 
This is nothing new, 3dmark does this. It could be too that some of your hardware, Ram etc., is actually losing performance as the fsb is increased.

The real test would be to run Q3 timedemo, UT2003 benchmark etc. Record your score before going above 146, and after. If your scores are higher when going over 146 then your game performance (or what some like to call real world) is actually benefiting.

If you are just looking to increase you 3dmark scores, then I really have nothing to say that may help, because quite frankly 3dmark is not the best program to measure real world performance, but only to compare your own system.
 
thanks for the help and i did bench with UT2003 and found out that there is no benefit of going over 144FSB to graphics performance, although i did notice a boost in overall system performace. but got no real way of mesuring it yet.

Probably has to do with dividers and latencies. No big secret that PCI gets unstable around the 37 to 38mhz threshold, which is right around 145mhz FSB (1/4 dividers). Also memory latency can become a factor as well, which is why the best performance is typically synced memory and FSB speeds. Everything considered, you really shouldn't worry about a few hundred points here or there in 3dMark.

Always be sure to verify results with more than one benchmark. However, that could be realted to probelms with the PCI bus as the previous poster mentioned.
