Apparently:

Yes, there are rabbis out there with enough chutzpah to certify things with bacon in the name as kosher. Fortunately, there is no such thing as eternal damnation in the Jewish faith. If you keep kosher, the good news is that all of J&D's products are Kof-K certified. Hickory, Peppered, Jalapeno, Maple, Applewood and Mesquite Bacon Salts are Kof-K Parve, while Original, Natural, and Cheddar Bacon Salts along with Regular and Lite Baconnaise are Kof-K Dairy. Please visit www.kof-k.org to learn more about Kof-K kosher certification.

And let me add a huge WTF?

hmmm if its kosher...I may indeed try it.

the only pat is if it really smells like pork --> especiallllly something like sausages, then its hard for me to stomach it. Sausages are so bad, especially the polish variety, that I literally want to throw up when I smell it x_x

You mean there's such a thing as "Kosher Bacon?"

It's about time the Jews came around...:p

Now if we can only get their cousins the Muslims to accept the deliciousness known as pig...

Just because there's "Bacon" in the name don't mean there's pork in it. (The same can be said for Turkey-Bacon, etc.)

Listen up folks, most Jews don't keep Kosher - they don't even go to temple on a regular basis. The same can be said for people of any faith.

If you're serious about that, I eat it all the time and I find it quite good. Just make sure you eat the uncured kind.

I think if you're muslim, you're more concerned with it being halal? IIRC, however, the two are very similar.

People presume everything about every other person's religion. Now why can't turkey bacon be kosher?

If the bacon comes from a turkey that wasn't slaughtered the Kosher way, or blessed by a Rabbi or however it works, then it's not Kosher. Halal is a little bit more lenient, you can't eat meat slaughtered by a pagan, but Christians and Jews are a-OK.

None of that means that Turkey Bacon couldn't be Kosher. I used to live in Bklyn and there are plenty of Kosher Pizza places and and fast-food joints selling Kosher McDonalds rip-off stuff. The same would hold true for Israel I'm sure.

Why not?

a law of kashrut specifies no substitutes i.e. at the risk of not maintaining appearances

another example is you couldn't have soy milk with your hamburger.

Hmm. That's a new one on me, as being brought up as a "Conservative" Jew I've never heard of that. Orthodox, maybe, but Reform or Conservative, I haven't, and like I said before, any religious "rule" or "law" is open to interpretation.

I don't disagree with you there. Personally I think it's a ridiculous rule.
