Filet Mignon for teh win, if you're talking bacon wrapped. Wrapping steaks like that is just giving the steak the misconception that it's filet mignon, and it has a complex and the meat gets all tough when it's time to eat it.

There's a local restaurant called Russells that wraps their fillet mignon in bacon and they burn it a bit. It's great and they serve it with prime rib soup and a twice baked potato... I love it:eek:

I'll give it a try tonight, then. :) Already called home and had the fiance pull out some steaks and bacon.

I think Martha Stewart had a recipe where she was making steaks and infused the meat with garlic and then butter... it looked amazing!

the only true bacon wrapped meat is a filet mignon. wrapping a whopper is just plain sick and wrong. Like, if and only if, its a mignon

Bacon wrapped filets are awesome.
We used to do a game feast and always did a deer on the Hog-o-matic (tow-behind auto-rotisserie charcoal spit) wrapped in bacon.
It took longer to pin the bacon on than it did to shoot and dress the deer.

bacon wrapped filet mignon is the way to go... the bacon gives an otherwise average tasting (but tender) part of the meat some flavor.
Of course, since it's the most expensive cut, people mistakenly believe it's the best tasting. (expecting to see a bunch to replies saying "is too") Ribeyes (aka delmonico, prime rib) are the best tasting cuts of beef and don't need bacon for flavor. Of course, the filet is the tenderest portion of the meat, but that is far from a determining factor between the two from any decent beef.
