Backyard Playsets

we're in the market for a backyard playset, the kind that has the ladder up to the playhouse, the slide that comes out of the playhouse and the swingbeam/monkey bar ladder that has at least 3 swings hanging from it.

right now we're looking at rainbow direct and creative playthings, both of which have decent sales up until this weekend, and have very similar features/options.

does anyone have any opinions on any particular brand or model?

We got one from costco 3 years ago - comes in several large boxes and you put it up yourself, which wasn't really all that difficult, did it in a weekend. The costco's around me always have one set up in the store so you can check it out in person. Basically, it has the exact features you list. Its pretty sturdy and good looking.

Yep. Highly reccomend the Costco\Sam's Club sets. Costco has the Sunray which is much like the Rainbow...

Not to say that rainbow isn't a great product, but the Sam's\Costco versions are an incredibly great value in comparison.

I'll third the Costco/Sam's Club sets. The Rainbow sets are awesome looking but very expensive IMHO. You can get a similar set from Costco or Sam's Club for a lot less money.

i'll definitely check out the costco near us then. do you remember how much your sets cost?

the rainbow set is $1999 with free delivery and installation. it has the playhouse, a rockwall, slide, ladder, steering wheel, binoculars, fabric roof, monkey bars, 2 swings, 1 trapeze.

$1100 in 2005 w\Delivery I put it together myself, a couple of guys helped me mount the supports, and I did the rest in about 12 hours.

Monkey bars above the swings....

~edit (not my pic, same model)

they have financing or no payments or interest for the first 6 months. we would have to do that since we don't have the disposable income right now to pay for it up front.

ps - thanks everyone for your input.

I got a kit from home depot, bought some lumber, and put it together. total cost was probably alittle over 1000 for everything. If I had someone build the same it would have been over 2k.
