I built an 8x16 (tiny) rink on my deck and the neighbors dog chewed through the liner at the edges last night. I'm expecting weather in the 40s in the next couple of days and wonder what I should do.

Dump the liner and put a new one in? Shear off the destroyed areas and duct tape? Do nothing?

basically the rink is frozen right now and the dog chewed up a foot or so of the exposed plastic on two corners, leaving an inch or so of material before the ice. My fear is that when the ice thaws it will push the plastic out and leak out.

Double staple the injured corners?

that's pretty cool but judging by the bench next to it, isn't that kind of small?

I just read into doing this for myself and it requires many days of 15F and below.. not likely going to happen here for any stretch. :(

8' x 16'

My oldest is 10 so they're not very big either.... The bench is very long.
Yeah, it needs a couple of days.

I won't make the neighbor pay. I was stupid for allowing his dog over and a good relationship with my neighbors is worth $25 at least.

Chop up dog into correct size pieces to fill in the holes. Or get the neighbors to buy you a new liner. Who knows what else it's chewed up of yours.

edit: duct tape

Reminds me when I was young me and my dad dug a rectangular section in the snow about 6 feet deep, used the hose to fill the bottom with a nice flat ice surface, then we had a fairly nice hockey rink with "boards" of soft snow. Wow now that I look back, that was a long time ago.

Took 3 summers for the grass to recover from that one. :p

The deck is a great idea though, no screwing up the lawn.
