Way to go, Jesse. Hop on that bandwagon of applying the latest buzzword to everything in sight (although it does fit in this case)
I bet in 1982 the article would have stated "Jackson calls the burn an act of communism".
Terrorism: The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence against people or property to coerce or intimidate governments or societies, often to achieve political, religious, or ideological objectives. (JCS Pub 1-02)
It would have been great if I put "although it does fit in this case" in my post.
Oh, that's right, I DID.
Great reading comprehension there, buddy.
I was pointing out that Jesse Jackson is known for using trendy buzzwords, and the use of the word "terrorism" skyrocketed since 9/11. That's because using such words sparks emotion and makes people listen. Of course shady politicians will use such tactics to their advantage whenever possible. Back in the 50's the same things happened with the KKK, but I didn't hear them referred to as "terrorists" as is so common today. Nowadays they call hackers "terrorists" and I heard DeLay using the term in the Terri Shiavo case.
