Backups to CDRW

Last year when I was purchasing a CDR drive, I found that there was no software available that would backup to a CDR or CDRW and enable you to span disks. I wonder if anyone has found software that remedies that situation today.

Thanks Anti. I do have a program that lets me span with an image on CDR, but was hoping there was something for rewriteable CDRW media.

I know Veritas Backup Exec 98...or whatever it's called now, will do this. I also think Drive Image and/or Ghost have a version (Pro?) that will span. I use Plextor CD-ResQ to span to cd-r/rw which, I believe, only works with Plex burners, but is based on Ghost....even shows Symantec in the copywrite. I've used Backup Exec since '96, spanning tapes and cd-rw's. Very nice to have a floppy emergency restore.....you don't even have to reinstall the OS or backup program....it will reinstall everything.

Thanks Randy. I will pick up a copy of Backup Exec. In the past I have found the capability of individual file restoration a useful tool.

Just be sure your writer is supported (from their list). As I recall, you can either restore individual files or the complete partition or system that you backed up. BTW, this was sold to Veritas by Seagate a couple years ago.

IronMike,

If you haven't bought something already, you may be interested in PowerQuest's DriveImage 4.0. It now supports direct writing to CDRW. I haven't tried it myself, but I have been a long time user of the 2.0, and 3.0 versions.
