Backup using MyBookLive w/o WD software

I have a MyBook Live HD connected to a wireless router. I can backup laptops wirelessly using the WD Smartware. Does anyone know of a way to backup using Windows 7 or 8 through the network without using the WD Smartware?

use Cobian Backup on the laptops with UNC network paths back to your MyBook LiveHD.

Only Windows 7 Pro and up can use network shares as the destination for Windows 7's built-in backup app.
