I'm running a Win2003 box set up as a web and db server. Its a 2ghz p3 with a gig of ram. I got the system and program files all on the small 30 gig drive, then 160gig on a separate ide channel with all the shared network files, storage, etc. then I got a 500 gig SATA maxtor hooked up through USB for backup and xtra storage.
The problem occurs when I run the backup. I'm using Genie Backup Manager Server Edition 8, read up about it had great reviews, lots of features, pretty easy to use. In the middle of the backup it just freezes up at random stages, and the 500 gig usb drive stops responding. I cant access the drive once that happens. The only fix to that is to turn off/on the usb drive and retry the back up from that point.
Anyone have similar problems? Is it the backup software or my drive ? HDD is working fine I just put in a second 500gig i had and have the same issue....
