Backup to Time Capsule

I was wondering if there's a best/preferred method to backing up to time capsule?

Right now, I just went inside the Time Machine configuration file and selected "Data" (which is the default share) from the list of available locations, and backed up to there.

But I'm also planning to use Time Capsule to occasionally store a few personal files. So should I put my backups on a separate partition or something?

Last time I checked, Time Capsules could not be partitioned.
