So, I finally convinced my company to purchase an adic fastore2 autoloader for our data. We have quite a bit. it's a 200/400GB 8tape SDLT autoloader.
Here's what we got: 2 servers, our main with exchange/share which ends up at about 90 gigs, our ERP server which holds about 180 gigs (GAH) in about 2 million files, and my documents spread across our network which probably consists of about 120 gigs.
Let's focus on the most important, the 2 servers (not the my documents). Puts me at 250-260 gigs.
Now, the backup drive is hooked up into our main/exchange server. It takes 3 hours to do a backup of hte 90 gigs on it, unfortunately it takes another 22 hours to backup all the data on the ERP server, which just doesn't work for me. (breaks the 24hour barrier for one!)
They're both gigabit on a gigabit switch.. it's backing up at ~120-170~MB/minute. I'm just not sure what to do. As of now I just have a full backup job in backup exec and letting the loader just load the next tapes it needs.
Any suggestions? Greatly appreciated. =X
